Spark The Wave – Leadership Training

On January 27, 2011, in Events, Featured, by admin

Solebury’s Teach2Serve class spent part of MLK weekend with a full day of leadership training led by Philadelphia based nonprofit, Spark the Wave.

Spark the Wave empowers youth through educational programs to be great volunteers and community leaders by helping them develop their skills in effective communication, leadership, service learning, project planning and diversity awareness. Bill Gallagher, president and founder of STW, put together a great day of activities, from goofy exercises to get creative juices flowing to thoughtful discussions on how a group focuses its energy to achieve its goals. At the end of the day (which was 8 solid hours!) the class had already begun to apply their new skills and knowledge and had made significant progress on a big group project (more on that later). It was really amazing to watch them work and to see their ideas take shape in a creative and collaborative process.

Some pictures from the day are below. You can learn more about Spark the Wave and their awesome seminars on their website. And we’ll keep you posted on Solebury’s class project. Hint: it involves A LOT of dancing…
