Alan R. Sheriff
Teach2Serve was founded by Alan Sheriff, Co-CEO and founder of Solebury Capital Group LLC. Alan has worked on Wall Street for over 25 years in a variety of senior positions at Salomon Brothers and Credit Suisse. Alan’s work has taken him around the world and given him unique opportunities to study global economies and cultural exchanges. These experiences have led to a deep interest in philanthropy, service and social entrepreneurship. Alan and his wife Karen have supported various causes in education, both domestically and abroad, including several projects in Africa.
Alan graduated with a BA in Political Science, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Rochester in 1981 and with a Masters in Public Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs in 1983. Alan is currently a Fellow at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Alan is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York City. He is on the Board of Advisors of DNA4Africa, a nonprofit promoting the use of DNA to track genocidal violence, child trafficking and sexual violence. In January 2011, Alan served as a delegate for the U.S. State Department’s Global Entrepreneurship Program in Egypt in an effort to promote and spur entrepreneurship around the world. This program was inspired by President Obama’s June 2009 speech in Cairo calling for better relations with Muslims around the world. He is a trustee at Solebury School, where he has also taught classes such as Genocide, and War and Children. Alan and Karen believe that educating high school students about leadership, social entrepreneurship, social change and public service will help build a dedicated workforce for charitable/NGO work in the future.
Kevin lives in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Amy have two young children, Walter and Charlotte. Kevin earned his BA from Columbia University and a Masters in Security Studies from Georgetown University, graduating with honors.
